Cub's evening in the meadow

At the end of the summer term, in keeping with discovering about and helping the local community, the 3rd Farnham Cub Scouts visited Bishop’s Meadow as guests of the Bishop’s Meadow Trust.

On a warm, sunny evening, Ed Partridge from the Trust provided an entertaining and educational tour of the meadow, explaining the Trust’s role in managing the environment and wildlife, and how the meadow protects the town centre from flooding.

The cubs explored bug hotels, searched for water-borne creatures in the River Wey and heard about the Trust’s future plans for continued restoration and maintenance of the meadow.

The cubs collected litter as they went along and discussed ideas for initiatives that the pack could work on in partnership with the Bishop’s Meadow Trust.

Simon Lomas-Clarke, assistant section leader, 3rd Farnham Cubs, said: “A huge thank you from the Pack to Ed and the Bishop’s Meadow Trust for sharing this great community resource in the heart of our town.”
