Season's Greetings from the Bishop's Meadows

Season’s Greetings from the Bishop's Meadow Trust!

It has been lovely having cows return to the meadows this year after the successful installation of the new fencing. We end the year with a few images of the meadow and a very unique video - please click on the link below. We wish our members a very Merry Christmas & New Year
and a BIG THANK YOU for the continued support.

Unique view of the meadows

Dr Stephen Connolley, a senior lecturer in film production at the University of Creative Arts got in touch to let us know about a project they were working on. A film which features the Bishops Meadows. The focus of the film is the history of the social relationships in farming on the meadows as indicated by old maps uncovered in Farnham Museum.

The result is Farnham Meadows. Farnham Meadows is a short film exploring the passage of the river Wey through the town of Farnham, Surrey.  It places early estate-plans in conversation with a drone visualisation of the course of the river and its adjacent water meadows. The project pivots on one of the most significant historical changes in the countryside - the enclosures of farming land to fields in single ownership.

Stephen kindly gave us permission to share this video with members - we hope you find it interesting. (make sure you have the sound on to hear the narrative)
